Our Italian Family Heritage...
The name Calabria originates from the name of a ship that the Lyman family's grandfather, Nicolo Maita, traveled on from Italy to America.
A young boy, at the age of nine, Nicolo left Villalba, Italy, to come to America, the land of opportunity. Departing from Naples, he traveled on the Calabria ship until he arrived at Ellis Island in June of 1906.
The Petite Sirah vines
were originally planted to compliment the Zinfandel,
but since then Petite Sirah has become a popular variety
of its own.
Calabria Vineyards is located in Fiddletown, CA, nestled in the foothills of Amador County.
It neighbors the Shenandoah Valley, known for it's quaint wineries and exquisite wine tasting
Calabria Vineyards is owned and operated by Greg and Cindy Lyman.
They grow two popular varieties of grapes, Petite Sirah and Fiddletown Zinfandel.
Calabria Vineyards has been growing wine grapes since the year 2000, specializing in two varieties, Petite Sirah, and Fiddletown Zinfandel.
Our Fiddletown Zinfandel vine originated from the oldest vineyard in Fiddletown still in production.
The vine itself was over 150 years old!
